Easter Time Book Tag!

Easter Time book tag (1).png

Hey everyone! I am so incredibly excited because today is my first day as host for Bookending Spring 2019!  Starting today, and going through Wednesday, I’ll be sharing some super fun and springy posts.

For today’s prompt, I’m going to be doing an original tag that I’m calling the Easter Time Book Tag!  This is my first time doing a tag, and I’m super excited to share it with you all, and hopefully you’ll join in on the fun and do this, too!

End of the Year Book Tag

end of the year book tag.png

Hello! Can you even believe that 2018 is just about over?! That is so wild to me!  This year was filled with some major ups and downs.  That being said, I am hopeful that 2019 will be an amazing year. 🙂

Today I decided to the End of the Year book tag. I discovered this tag over at Pretty Purple Polka Dots by Aoife!

Okay, here we go:

Best book you’ve read in 2018

I don’t think it’s possible for me to narrow this down just to one book!  I have a post coming later this week, where I share my top ten books of 2018, and that list is as close as I can get to listing a favorite.

Best sequel you’ve read in 2016

TheRebellionCover

The Rebellion by Livy Jarmusch was such a great follow-up to The Coronation.  I cannot wait to read book three!

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

imposters

I love the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld so much, so I really want to get to Imposters in 2019!

Biggest disappointment

breakfast at tiffany's

Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote was so disappointing.  So many people are obsessed with this movie, and maybe the movie is quite different, but this book was very different than I expected.  I felt disconnected from the plot and all the characters.  The short stories included in the book weren’t my thing either.  I don’t think Truman Capote’s writing is for me.

Biggest surprise

small spaces

I have to go with Small Spaces by Katherine Arden for this one.  This book completely blew me away!  It was one of my favorite books of the year and was just so much more than I expected. I love it so much!

Favourite new author (debut or new to you)

Katherine Arden and Taylor Jenkins Reid were both new-to-me authors that I read in 2018 that I definitely plan on reading more of in 2019!

Newest fictional crush

I don’t really get fictional “crushes” but both Bill from Save the Date and Zach from the Illusion trilogy were such sweet, great guys and I loved reading about them!

Newest favourite character

save the date

There’s no way I could pick! I will say, though, I found Charlie and her family to be super relatable, and she reminded me a lot of me when I was 18.  So, I guess I’ll go with her for this question.

Book that made you cry

My Sister’s Keeper was the biggest cry fest for me, but Save the Date and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo also had their moments!

Book that made you happy

I feel so redundant including it, but Save the Date really made me happy, too.  The Way You Make Me Feel also made me happy!

Most beautiful book you bought or received this year

IMG_4773

I won this gorgeous copy of Stories for Christmas by Charles Dickens from an Instagram giveaway, and oh my word, this book is stunning!  I’m obsessed with how pretty it is!!

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

the christmas secret.jpg

I’m currently reading The Christmas Secret by Donna VanLiere, and I’d really love to have that finished up before the new year starts!

That wraps up the End of Year Book Tag! I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I would absolutely love to hear your answers. 🙂

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a safe and happy New Years! 🎉🥂

The Jingle Bell Book Tag!

jingle bell book tag (1).png

Hey everyone! I’ve been seeing the Jingle Bell book tag around lately and since it’s so close to Christmas, I thought this would be such a fun tag to do!  The tag was created by Richard @ The Humpo Show, and I found this tag from Deanna @ Dee Reads Things.

Alright, let’s get started!

“All I Want For Christmas Is You…” – What book do you want to see under the Christmas tree?

a map of days

While I’d be happy with any book, I’m super eager to read A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs.  I would be absolutely thrilled to find this one under my tree on Christmas morning!

“Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time” – What book that you’ve read this year did you enjoy the most?

small spaces

How can I possibly pick just one?! I will say, though, my latest 5 star read was Small Spaces by Katherine Arden.  It was definitely one of the best books I read this year!

Elf – What book unleashes your inner child?

NancyDrewCLK

The Nancy Drew series was my favorite growing up.  So, whenever I pick up a Nancy Drew book, it reminds me of my younger years!

“It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas” – What book has the most festive look to it?

my true love gave to me.jpg

I think My True Love Gave to Me has such a fun and festive cover and features a little bit of something for everyone!

The Grinch – Your favorite villain.

matilda

The Trunchbull from Matilda is absolutely terrible.  She is one of the first villains that really stuck out to me, and while I don’t have a “favorite” villain, she is definitely the most memorable one to me.

The Holiday – Name your TWO favourite couples.

Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe and Nancy Drew & Ned Nickerson for life! 😍😂

What book would you like to give as a present to your followers?

anne of green gables

Anne of Green Gables is one of my all-time favorite books (as many of you know, haha), and so I would love for all my followers to read and [hopefully] love this book!

I tag anyone who wants to do this!

This was so much fun to do!

Thanks for reading!

The Bookish Naughty List 2018!

bookish naughty list

Hey everyone! I know I’ve sort of fallen off the Blogmas train the past couple of days, but the final weeks of school were really kicking my booty.  That being said, I’m officially on winter break, and I could not be happier! 🙌🏼  This semester was b r u t a l!

Anyway, today I’m doing the Bookish Naughty List book tag again!  I did it last year, but let’s see how this year compares.  Will I be naughty or nice?!

Here we go!

Received an ARC and not reviewed it ✔

Ugh, yes I’ve done this and I always feel so bad about it!  I have every intention of reading all the ARCs I receive, I just don’t always get them done before they’re released.  I promise they’ll be read someday, though!

Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley

Okay, so I really thought I was going to be naughty for this one.  I’m actually at 71% right now.  Plus, now that I’m on winter break, I’m hoping to read even more and get that percentage even higher!

Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did) ✔

Here’s looking at you Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel 😂🙈

Folded down the page of a book

Nope! Dog-earring books isn’t my style. 😂

Accidentally spilled on a book

I have in the past, but not this year, thankfully! 🙌🏼

DNF a book this year ✔

There were a few this year that I started, didn’t get very far in, and decided that they weren’t the book for me right now.

Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

It may take me years, but I do always do plan on reading every book I buy.  Do I actually end up reading every book? No…but my intentions are pure, I promise!

Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework) ✔

Oh yes, I do this far too often.  In fact, I ended up turning in my final paper for the semester an hour before it was due because I may or may not have spent too much time reading instead of working…oops!

Skim read a book ✔

I’ll be honest, I don’t do this often, but if I’m reading a book that I’m really struggling to get through – especially when I’m almost done – I do skim some of the passages. 🙈

Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Not this year! 🎉🎉 I’ll have you all know that I’ve actually surpassed it! 💃🏼

Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library

My books may be returned late, but they always get returned!!

Broke a book buying ban ✔

Library book sales…I just can’t pass them up!

Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Hahaha! I’ve done this before, I admit. But not this year!

Wrote in a book you were reading

The only book I write in is my Bible, and I don’t really think that counts for this.

Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

I gotta make sure every book makes it to my Goodreads goal, so no for this one. Haha!

Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

No, I’m actually pretty good about returning things!

Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

😂😂 I’ve done this before, but I actually didn’t have to do this in 2018!

Broke the spine of someone else’s book

Not this year! 🙌🏼

Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

Unfortunately, this happens to me a lot.  Surprisingly, this didn’t happen this year, though! 🎉

Sat on a book accidentally ✔

Yes, this has happened more times than I would like to admit. 🙈  Thankfully, the books were not harmed!

Final Score 7/20

Hey! I actually did pretty good this year! I guess I’m on the nice list after all!😁🎄

Are YOU on the bookish naughty list this year? I’d love to see your answers!

Give Thanks for All the Great Reads Book Tag!

give thanks book tag.jpg

Hello!!  So, I totally meant to have this posted on Thanksgiving.  I thought it would be the absolute perfect thing for my blog since it is the day where celebrate and share what we are thankful for.  However, November was an absolute crazy month for me, and I never got the chance to do it.  So, here I am, doing the Give Thanks for All the Great Reads book tag now!  I was tagged by the lovely Abbey from Three Cats and a Girl to do this, and she is also the creator of the tag. 🙂

Rules

  • make sure to tag the creator (because she wants to see everyone’s answers and make her TBR even longer…) Abbey @ Three Cats and a Girl
  • make sure to tag the lovely blogger who tagged you (because they also love lengthening their TBR)
  • Give something that you are thankful for this year at the end of the post!
  • tag as many or as few bloggers as you like!

Alright, let’s get started!

You Turkey! ~ a book that made you laugh

the princess diaires

Any book my Meg Cabot makes me laugh!  The Princess Diaries series is especially funny!

I’m Stuffed ~ a book that completely satisfied you

dark halo

Dark Halo by Shannon Dittemore was such a satisfying ending to the Angel Eyes series!  I absolutely loved it.

Pumpkin Pie ~ the book you are looking forward to reading next

a vintage christmas.jpg

I’m really looking forward to reading A Vintage Christmas!  It’s full of short stories and poems about Christmas by classic authors like LM Montgomery, Louisa May Alcott, Charles Dickens, and more!  I think this book will be so perfect for me. 🙂

Go Team! ~ a book where you found yourself really cheering for a certain character

the seven husbands of evelyn hugo

I have to go with Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for this one.  Evelyn was by no means perfect, but I loved her so much and I just only wanted the best for her!

Macy’s Day Parade ~ a book that’s always there waiting on the bookshelf to be read and you know you’ll get to it eventually

pride and prejudice

The first book that came to mind for this one is Pride and Prejudice.  I’ve been meaning to read this book for so long now, but for one reason or another I keep putting it off.  It is one of my goals for 2019 to finally read this one!

Traditions ~ a book you could/do reread every year because it’s so dang good

anne of green gables

Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery! It is one of my favorite books of all time, and I never get tired of it.  It’s been a couple years since I’ve read it last, so this is another one I hope to read in 2019!

I’m Thankful For ~ a book that really helped you in life

NancyDrewCLK

I have to go with the classic Nancy Drew series.  Growing up, those books shaped me so much.  As someone who was shy and kind of nervous, Nancy always inspired me to be the brave, independent, and the best me possible.  She was who I strived to be like when I was little (Okay, and still now 😂)!

I tag everyone who is reading this!

Thanks again, so much, for tagging me Abbey!  I really loved doing this tag and thinking about all the books I’m thankful for. This was such a perfect book tag to do around this time of year when we are remembering, connecting with friends and family, and feeling extra thankful. ♥

Thanks for reading!

Bonded, Bewitched, Drowned

Hello and Happy Halloween!! 👻🎃🍂

To celebrate Halloween and the last day of Blogtober/Blogoween, for today’s post I’m going to be playing Bonded, Bewitched, Drowned, which is the Halloween equivalent of Kiss, Marry, Kill!  This prompt was originally created by Fictionally Sam, and I was tagged by Mandy @ Devouring Books to do this fun challenge!

There aren’t really any rules for how you decide which characters to use, but all the books I’ve chosen for this challenge are completely randomized, and I’ve just decided to choose the main, male character from each book to make things easier.

Okay, here we go!

Round One

Okay, so the books I randomly picked for round one are:

Jack from Clara Snow

Joseph from The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott

Todd from Christy Miller Vol. 4

Oh boy, this is a hard one!  When I read The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott, Joseph was one of my favorite love interests of the entire year! Meanwhile, Todd is such a sweetheart, though.  And then there’s Jack Frost!  He experienced so much character growth in this book.

Bonded: Joseph

Bewitched: Todd

Drowned: Jack (Sorry Jack!)

Round Two

Ezra from Illuminae

Tarver from These Broken Stars

Adam from If I Stay

This round is slightly easier! I’ll be honest, I didn’t love These Broken Stars (I found it boring 🙊), so I don’t remember much about Tarver.  Because of that, it makes it a lot easier for me to do this:

Bonded: Ezra

Bewitched: Adam

Drowned: Tarver

Round Three

Gilbert from Anne of the Island

Jake from Angel Eyes

Sam from Emergency Contact

This one is actually pretty easy because while I love all three characters, there’s really no contest about who’s my favorite. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bonded: Jake

Bewitched: Gilbert (we all saw that coming! 😂)

Drowned: Sam (Sorry Sam! I just like Gil and Jake more than you!)

Round Four

Christian from The Summer of Chasing Mermaids

Galen from Of Poseidon

Four from Divergent

I admit, it’s been so long since I’ve read Of Poseidon that I don’t remember the book, or Galen that well.  I almost thought I should pick another book, but then I realized that maybe it’s a good thing I don’t remember him. 😏😭

Bonded: Christian

Bewitched: Four

Drowned: Galen

This was such a fun post to create! I hope you had as much fun reading it as I had writing it. 🙂

I tag anyone who wants to do this, and if you decide to do it, please let me know so I can see your answers!!

Thanks so much for reading!

The Halloween Book Tag!

halloween book tag.png

Hello everybody!  With Halloween coming up this Wednesday, I thought it would be the perfect time to do the Halloween Book Tag!  I stumbled upon this tag while actually googling festive, Halloween book tags to do, and I came across this one from the Sassy Book Geek a couple of years ago!

1.) Favorite Scary (Must Read) For Halloween?

small spaces

I’m going to go with Small Spaces for this one! I recently read (and absolutely loved) this book, and it was just the right amount of spooky and festive for Halloween!

2.) Scariest Book Cover, Like Ever?

I can’t think of one for this one, and I’m writing this at night so I don’t really want to go digging around for creepy book covers before I go to bed, so…I’m leaving this one blank. 😂🙈

3.) If You Could Go Trick-or-Treating With Any Author, Who Would You Pick?

Image result for ransom riggs tahereh mafi

Maybe Ransom Riggs and Tahereh Mafi? The Miss Peregrine series is quite spooky.  Plus, they have the cutest little baby girl, and I bet she will be so adorable in her Halloween costume!  Who doesn’t want to go trick or treating with cute little babies in cute little Halloween costumes?!

4.) If You Could Dress Up As Any Bookish Character For Halloween, Who Would You Be?

NancyDrewCLK

Back when the Nancy Drew movie came out, I dressed up as her for Halloween.  I looked for a picture to include, because I know I have one somewhere, but I couldn’t find it!  This was probably one of my favorite Halloween costumes ever, though! I was so pleased with it, haha. 🙂

5.) If You Could Find Anything (From Any Book) In Your Trick-or-Treat Stash, What Would You Hope To Find?

the count of monte cristo.jpg

Okay, this is a tricky one!  Maybe a big treasure like Edmond finds in The Count of Monte Cristo? To be fair, though, I’m still working through that one, so I don’t know how it ends yet.  Come the end of the novel, I may want to change my mind, lol!

6.) In What Fictional World Would You Like To Go Trick-or-Treating?

anne of green gables

I don’t actually ever recall them celebrating Halloween, but if they did, I’d love to go trick or treating in Avonlea!  I bet Anne and her friends would come up with the most elaborate and fun costumes, and I would imagine everyone would give out delicious, homemade treats to eat!

7.) What Book Villain Would You Not Like To Meet Alone In A Dark Alley On Halloween?

matilda

All of them, lol!  But, I’m going to go with The Trunchbull!  She’s actually super scary and I have not doubt she would steal all my candy.

8.) Would You Rather Dress Up As A Vampire, Zombie, Werewolf, or Shadowhunter?

I think a vampire or a werewolf would be super fun!

9.) Pick A Candy (Just One) From Harry Potter That You Would Love To Find In Your Stash?

I’ve got to skip this one, because I’ve only read the first Harry Potter book, and I don’t remember any of the candy except for those jelly beans!

10.) What Is Your Favorite Halloween Candy?

peanut butter cup chocolate GIF by Shaking Food GIFs

Reese’s Peanut Butter cups! 😋🙌🏼

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to this fun and festive tag! I encourage you to do it, too!  Also, what’s your favorite candy?

Thanks for reading!

The Fall Book Tag!

fall-book-tag.png

Hello!  Today I’m going to be doing the Fall Book Tag!  It was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and I discovered it over at Arwa’s blog, One’s Peculiar.

Alright, let’s get started:

RULES:

  • Please link back to  Bionic Book Worm, as the creator of this tag!!
  • Use the graphics – if you want 🙂
  • Have fun!

fall-tag-1

replica

I thought Replica by Lauren Oliver was such a unique and intriguing read! From the format to the storyline, this book really hooked me!

fall-tag-2

frenzy.jpg

Frenzy was such a great ending to an already great series!  This entire book series drew me in on the very first page of the very first book and hooked me until the end!

fall-tag-3

16101128

The 5th Wave was filled with so much action and adventure! This book was utterly un-put-down-able!

fall-tag-4

a map of days

A Map of Days is the book I’ve been anticipating most for the entirety of 2018! It just came out earlier this month, but I still haven’t been able to get a copy.  I am so eager to read this book!!

fall-tag-5

save the date

This book gave me all the feels!  From the family relationships Charlie and her family have, to just Bill in general, to the fact that Andie and Clark from The Unexpected Everything made a cameo appearance, Save the Date gave me all the warm and fuzzies!!

fall-tag-6

danger at the drawbridge.jpg

shadowland

intermission

I’m including Danger at the Drawbridge by Mildred A. Wirt (the original Nancy Drew author!!), Shadowland by Meg Cabot, and Intermission by Serena Chase because I really loved all three of these books, and I feel like they’re underrated!

Spooky Scary Book Tag!

spooky scary book tag.jpg

Hey everyone! Today I’m doing the Spooky Scary Book Tag! This tag was created by Shelby @ Clever Fox.  I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this, but I was looking for a festive book tag to do, and this one seemed perfect!

Okay, let’s get started!

1. What goes bump in the night?

Name a book that has legitimately scared you while reading it.

I definitely have to go with The Diviners by Libba Bray for this one!  I feel like I’ve been talking about that book so much lately, but it was just so creepy and scary to me!!

the diviners

2. Jack O Lanterns and Classic Costumes

A book you always reach for during Halloween time.

I’m going to go with my festive, childhood favorites for this one, like The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of AnythingThe Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat, and The Teeny Tiny Woman.  Growing up, I had a huge stack of Halloween themed books that I would make my mom read over and over again.  So now, I love reading those same Halloween books that I read as a kid to my nieces and nephews every year!

the little old lady.jpg

3. Black Cats and Magic Mirrors

A book you love that is laced with superstition and/or magic.

Something Wicked This Way Comes is so mysterious and magic-filled.  It makes such a perfect read for Halloween!  The movie is really good, too! 🍂

ray bradbury disney GIF

4. Witch’s Brew

Favorite witch character in any book/series.

As I’ve already talked about, I haven’t really read that many books featuring witches.  So, I can’t really say for certain who my favorite witch is.  That being said, I love the Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV show, and I know it’s based on the comics, so, even though I’ve heard she’s different in the show, I’m going to go with Sabrina Spellman!

true sabrina the teenage witch GIF

5. Ghouls and Ghosts

A book that still haunts you to this day (good or bad).

The Kill Order by James Dashner was such a disappointment to me!  I loved The Maze Runner series so much, and so I wanted a prequel that was going to be just as good, but The Kill Order definitely was not.  I’ve never read a book that had so much non-stop action but still somehow managed to be so incredibly boring as this book. 😦

the kill order

6. Haunted Graveyard

You’re all alone in a haunted graveyard, you get ONE book to give you comfort, which is it?

Definitely, I would pick the Bible!

7. The Undead

Favorite supernatural creatures to read about (i.e. vamps, zombies, werewolves, etc).

I can’t decide between werewolves and vampires!  I like reading about both for different reasons.  And yes, Twilight and the Shiver series are the main reason why. 😂

robert pattinson twilight GIF

8. In the dead of night

Pick a book with a black cover.

This version of And Then There Were None has a black cover!  Also, this mystery would be perfect to read during Halloween time!

and then there were none

9. Trick or Treat?

Treat, please!!

I tag:

Jessica @ Reading with Jessica

Aurora @ Aurora Librialis

Dee @ Dee Reads Things

Casey @ Casey Dilla Books

Anyone reading this!

I hope you all had fun reading my answers because I had so much fun doing this tag!

Thanks for reading!
