pagesathon TBR.png

Hey everyone! I know I’ve been quiet on here the past couple weeks, but I’m working on getting my blogging back into more of a schedule.  By June, I plan to be fully back to my regular blogging schedule.

Anyway, I’m excited to announce that I will be participating in the Pagesathon, hosted by Louisedanielle.reads and the Bookgeekery!  The readathon runs from May 27th through June 9th.  Today, I’m sharing the books that I hope to get read in these two weeks.  So, here we go!

‘Tistheseasonathon Wrap-Up!

tistheseasonathonwrapup.png

Hello! So last week I participated in the ‘Tistheseasonathon, that went from December 3rd through the 9th. You can check out my TBR here. Today I’m going to be sharing how I did!

Alright, so technically I finished all the challenges, but I did not get to my whole TBR.

Here were the challenges:

CHALLENGE ONE: READ A BOOK WITH RED OR GREEN ON THE COVER.

CHALLENGE THREE: READ A WARM & FUZZY BOOK

CHALLENGE FOUR: READ A SHORT BOOK (200-250 PAGES)

CHALLENGE FIVE: READ A HOLIDAY THEMED BOOK

christmas remedy

The Christmas Remedy was the first book I read, and technically, that means I finished challenges 1, 3, 4, & 5. 😏

This was a really cute book, but it wasn’t super Christmas-y until the very end. // ⭐⭐⭐1/2 // My Review

CHALLENGE TWO: READ A BOOK WHILE LISTENING TO HOLIDAY MUSIC.

silent days holy night

Then, I listened to Christmas music while reading Silent Days, Holy Night, which means I finished challenge 2, as well!

This was such a sweet and heartwarming read. I could totally see it being on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries someday! // ⭐⭐⭐⭐ // My review

And, that’s all I read, lol! So, I sort of completed this readathon, just not in the way I had hoped. 😂

Did you participate in ‘Tistheseasonathon? Or are you participating in any other readathons this month? Let me know how you’re doing/did!

Thanks for reading! 🎄

December TBR + Tistheseasonathon & Classicsathon TBRs!

December TBR.png

Hello everyone!  I am so excited for the books I plan on reading this month! Christmas is my favorite time of year, and so December is going to be filled with holiday-themed reads.  I’ve also decided to participate in the ‘TisTheSeasonAthon – which starts today, December 3rd, and runs through the 9th – and the ClassicsAThon, which runs through the entire month of December.  Because everything was starting all around the same time, I decided to create one big TBR post!

Sbooktober Readathon Wrap-Up!

Sbooktober Readathon wrap up.png

Hey everyone! Well, the Sbooktober Readathon is officially over, and Halloween day is almost here.  Last Sunday, I shared my TBR and now it’s time for me to wrap up how this readathon went for me!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get everything on my TBR read.  But, this week was pretty busy for me, so I’m not surprised at all.  But that’s okay, because readathons are just supposed to be fun! 🙂

Alrighty, here’s the challenges I did get to:

 JOIN SBOOKTOBER

READ A HALLOWEEN THEMED BOOK OF YOUR CHOICE (THRILLER, SUPERNATURAL, GOTHIC, ETC)

IMG_3761

Hocus Pocus & The All-New Sequel was such a fun and festive read! It was absolutely perfect for Halloween.

ENTER THE HAUNTED HOUSE

READ A BOOK THAT INCLUDES A HAUNTED HOUSE.

PERFORM AN INCANTATION

READ A SHORT STORY OR POETRY COLLECTION.

IMG_3760

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn was my first experience with her writing, so I had no idea what to expect going into this story.  Even though it was a short story, it was still so mind twisty and intricate.  While there parts I, personally, didn’t care for, The Grownup was such a wild ride, and I definitely have an interest in reading more of Gillian Flynn’s books!

HOWL AT THE MOON

READ A BOOK AT NIGHTTIME.

IMG_3768

So, I started Undead Girl Gang, but I didn’t finish it.  I may finish it, but I may wait until next Halloween to get to this one.  From what I read, I liked it, but didn’t love it, and being that I still have some other books I want to get to this month, this one is kind of being pushed to the side for now!

And that wraps up the Sbooktober Readathon for me!

Let me know if you participated and how you did. 🙂🎃👻

Thanks for reading!

#CLASSICSATHON TBR!

classicsathon.png

Hello!  Today I’m going to share with you all the classic books I hope to read during the month of August for the #ClassicsAThon, hosted by Lucy Powrie, AKA, Lucy The Reader!  This is a super chill readathon, and it started August 1st, and goes throughout the entire month of August, ending on the 31st.  I’m jumping in a few days late, but that’s okay, I’m going with it!  The goal of the readathon is simply to read as much, or as little, classic literature as you want.

I’m sure I won’t get to all the books on my TBR, especially since I have other, non-classic books that I hope to read this month as well, but it would be really nice if I was able to read as many of them as I can.  I also think the #ClassicsAThon will really compliment my own #2018ClassicsChallenge, and help cross off a few more books!

So, without further ado, here’s all the classic books I want to read this month:

The Count of Monte Cristo

IMG_2553.jpg

I’ve been reading The Count of Monte Cristo off and on all summer.  One of my summer goals was to read a large classic, and with over 1,000 pages, this book has been doing its job!  That being said, I’m only on chapter 20, so I still have quite a while to go.  While I don’t know if I’ll be able to actually finish the entire book this month, I’d really like to get a good chunk of it read!

The Trees

the trees.jpg

I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about this book.  I found out about The Trees from my grandma, and it’s supposed to be really good.  It takes place in Ohio at the end of the 18th century, and from what I’ve gathered, it’s a bit of an Ohioan classic.  Since I live in Ohio, I thought I’d give it a read!

Elsie’s Holiday at Roselands

elsie holiday at roselands.jpg

This series is considered a Christian classic, but it’s also a bit controversial.  It was written back when slavery was still acceptable, and so, there are some derogatory comments and abusive actions in this book.  That being said, the series was rewritten and revised in the early 2000’s and that series was one of my favorites when I was growing up.  Now that I’m older, I’m curious about the original series though, and I’ve started reading it.  Elsie’s Holiday at Roselands is book 2 in the series!

Anne of Ingleside

IMG_2551.jpg

Many of you know my love for Anne!  So, it’s no surprise that I would want to add a book from this series on my TBR.  I’ve been hesitant to read the rest of the Anne series for the simple fact that I love these books so much I don’t wan them to end.  That being said, I still really want to finish the series.  So, I’ve decided it’s time to continue on!

Rebecca

IMG_2556.jpg

I can’t even tell you how many wonderful things I’ve heard about Rebecca!  This book sounds so intriguing, and it is one that has been on my TBR for so long now.  I am so excited to read this book!

And there you have it!  That’s my TBR for the #ClassicsAThon!  Like I said, I probably won’t get these all read, but I’m hoping to get a good amount of reading done this month, so we shall see.

Let me know if you’re participating in this readathon, and if you are, what’s on your TBR?  Even if you’re not participating this time around, share with me your favorite classic book in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

Cram-A-Thon Wrap-Up!

Cram-A-Thon wrap up.png

Hello!  Last week I participated in the Cram-A-Thon.  The goal of this readathon was to complete 7 books in a week.  I decided to join last minute (check out my TBR here), so I wasn’t sure how well I was going to do.  That being said, I actually did incredible!?!  While I didn’t manage to read 7 books, I’m still so proud of how much I accomplished!

Here’s what I managed to read:

1. A Predicted 5 Star Read

IMG_1742

I read Sanctuary by Meg Cabot for this challenge.  While it wasn’t my favorite book in the series, and so, not quite a 5 star read after all, it was still a solid 4 stars, and I’m so happy to have read it. I really enjoyed it!

2. A Book That’s Out of Your Comfort Zone

IMG_1745

For this challenge, I read the poetry book, The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One by Amanda Lovelace.  I’m not a huge poetry person, so I didn’t love this book.  However, I really felt the emotion and the author’s passion behind her words.

3. A Book That’s Been on Your TBR for a Long Time

IMG_1743

Fire and Ice by Erin Hunter was such a fun and adventurous read!  As a huge cat lover, this series is perfect for me, and this book was so fun and intriguing to read.

4. A LGBTQ+ Ownvoices Book

IMG_1741

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp was a really unique and important read.  It focuses on the importance mental health.  I admit I was hoping for a little bit more from this book, but regardless, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.

5. Something That’s Not a Standard Novel

IMG_1746

Goldie Vance by Hope Larson was such a cute and fun graphic novel!  I loved the illustrations, the mystery, and all the characters.  Goldie, herself, reminded me quite a bit of Nancy Drew and Penny Parker (the original Carolyn Keene’s own mystery series).

6. A Book with Your Favorite Color on the Cover

IMG_1744

My favorite color is pink, so I decided to go with The Borrowers by Mary Norton for this challenge.  This is the only book I wasn’t able to complete for the readathon.  I only had about 40 pages to go, but I was SO tired on the last night of the readathon that I just couldn’t finish the book.  I did finish it the next day though, and this book was so enjoyable!  It was completely different, and wayyy better than the movie.

Overall, I’m so pleased with how much progress I made for this readathon!  I really didn’t expect to read more than 3 books, and instead, I nearly completed everything.  I’m honestly so proud of myself! 🙂

If you participated in the Cram-A-Thon, how did you do?  Thanks for reading!

Cram-A-Thon TBR!

Cram-A-Thon.png

Hey everyone! So, this is late and last minute, but yesterday evening I found out that the Cram-a-thon was this week!  It started yesterday, June 10th, and runs through June 17th.  I don’t think I’ve ever participated in the Cramathon before, but I’ve seen others do it, and it always looks like so much fun.  So, even though I’m joining late and last minute, I’ve decided I’m going to do it!

The goal of the readathon is to finish 7 things in 7 days – so y’all already know I won’t actually be able to complete this. 😉  That being said, I’m going to try my best to read as much as I can!  There’s also challenges to help base your TBR pile on.  Being that I joined last minute, I haven’t put too much thought into what I’m going to read, but I’ve gathered some that fit the challenges, and they will be my tentative TBR, unless I change my mind on any of them.

Alright, here are the challenges and the books I’m hoping to read this week!

1. A predicted 5 star book

IMG_1742.jpg

For this one, I’m going with Sanctuary by Meg Cabot!  I pretty much love all of her books as it is, but I especially love this particular series.  I’ve given all these 4 or 5 stars, so I have no doubt that I’m going to love this one as well!

2. A book that’s out of your comfort zone

IMG_1745.jpg

I very rarely read poetry.  I did read Amanda Lovelace’s first book, The Princess Saves Herself in This One, though, and I did enjoy it.  So, I’m going to give her second book a chance, too!

3. A book that’s been on your TBR for a long time

IMG_1743.jpg

I have to go with Fire and Ice for this one.  The Warriors series is one of my sister’s favorites, and she’s been encouraging me to read them for years!  A while back I did read the first book, Into the Wild, and really enjoyed it.  So, I know I’ll love this one, too.  It’s just one I keep putting off!

4. A LGBTQ+ Ownvoices book

IMG_1741.jpg

I started Before I Let Go right before the cramathon started, and I didn’t even realize it was an ownvoices novel until looking into what to read for the readathon.  So, I think that turned out pretty perfectly since I’m starting this readathon so last minute!

5. Something that’s not a standard novel

IMG_1746.jpg

Goldie Vance is a graphic novel, which is also something I don’t read too often.  I think this looks like such a fun and mysterious series, and I cannot wait to read it!

6. A book with your favorite color on the cover

IMG_1744.jpg

My favorite color is pink, so I went with The Borrowers for this challenge.  I think it’ll be the perfect book because it looks like so much fun, and it’s small, which is exactly the kind of book I need for this readathon!

7. Read seven books

I don’t have anything picked out for my 7th book yet.  If I somehow, miraculously, am able to read all of these books in 7 days and have time to read something else, I can assure you that, whatever it is, the book I pick will probably be an extremely short story!

And that’s my TBR!  Wish me luck!  Be sure to let me know what you’re reading if you’re participating in the Cram-A-Thon, too.

Thanks for reading!

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon Update #3/Wrap-Up!

Hey everyone! Well, Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is now over, so it’s time I share with you all how it went.

After my last update, I read about 10 more pages of Illuminae, and then I fell asleep. Then, I woke up about 20 minutes before the readathon ended, and read until it was over. So, I was able to get to page 118 of Illuminae plus the 20 pages of The Ugly Teapot. Altogether I read 109 pages for the readathon!

Like I said in my other updates, I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to read during this readathon. Despite that, I’m still really content with how much I read. I’m looking forward to the next one, on Oct. 20th! 🎉

Did you participate in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon? If so, let me know how you did!

Thanks for reading!

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon Update #2

Hello! I thought I’d check in and share with you all how I’ve been doing today. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to read, but I already knew I wouldn’t. However, I have read a little bit, and given the circumstances of today, I’m not too disappointed with how much I’ve read at this point.

So far, I’ve read 20 pages of The Ugly Teapot. I am enjoying this one, although I must say, it’s a little all over the place for me. I’m still super intrigued though, and am very curious to see how this one will end.

Also, I’m now on page 91 of Illuminae, so I’ve read 62 pages so far. At first I was a little confused with this book, but now I’m really loving it! It’s one that I just don’t want to stop reading.

It’s currently almost 11:00 PM where I live, so I’ll probably be going to bed in the next hour or so. So we’ll see how many more pages I read tonight. The readathon ends at 7:55 AM in my time zone, so depending when I wake up tomorrow, I may be able to squeeze in a little more reading.

Unfortunately, I’ve been so bad at updating my social media of my reading progress this time around, but I will definitely have a final update and wrap-up post up here on the blog, sometime tomorrow!

Thanks so much for reading!
