A Bookworm’s Pool Day Essentials

A Bookworm's.png

Hello and welcome back to day four for me as host for Bookending Summer 2019.  Unfortunately, today’s my last day hosting.  That being said, Jeimy @ A Novel Idea is taking over the fun tomorrow! Also, I still plan on participating in some of the other hosts’ prompts throughout July, so really, the fun is just beginning. 🎉

Today’s prompt is all about a bookworm’s pool day essentials.  Who doesn’t love a nice, relaxing day at the pool?  In order to get that perfect day, though, there’s a few essential items we all need to bring!  Here’s mine:

Summer Reading Goals 2019!

Summer Reading 2019.png

Hey everyone! It is summertime again! 🙌🏼  The summer months are my favorite, and it feels so great to be swimming and gardening again.  Today I’ll be sharing with you all my bookish related goals for the summer.  Typically, I count my summer reading from approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day – late May through early September.  So, I’ve already started working towards those goals.

Without further ado, here are my 2019 summer reading goals! 🎉

Summer Reading Wrap-Up 2018!

Summer Reading wrap up2018.png

Hey everyone! Well, summer has officially come to a close, so I thought it was finally time to share with you all how my summer reading plans went.  In the beginning of summer, I shared some of my reading goals.  You can check out that post here.

Well, how did I do? Let’s find out:

1. READ AT LEAST 20 BOOKS | ✔

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day (which is what I count as my “summer reading”), I read exactly 20 books!

I actually really enjoyed reading them all, too.  So, I’d say my summer reading was quite successful!

2. COMPLETE MY LIBRARY’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM | ✔

It’s no surprise to me that I finished my local library’s summer reading program.  It’s something I do every year, and I always really enjoy.  This year was no different!

3. READ A BIG CLASSIC | ✔

read beauty and the beast GIF

I still haven’t finished it yet, but I’ve started reading a “big classic,” and sometimes that’s the hardest part, in my opinion!  After so many of you suggested it and told me how much you loved it, I decided to go with The Count of Monte Cristo.  It’s definitely a big one though, so I’m really not surprised I haven’t finished yet, but I am really enjoying it!

4. PARTICIPATE IN A READATHON | ✔

I participated in the Cram-A-Thon for the first time this summer, and I actually did pretty great!  I had so much fun, and ended up reading way more than I expected I would!

5. START A BOOKTUBE | ❌

I actually didn’t get around to starting a BookTube this summer.  I attempted to a couple of times, but then something always came up, and I kept putting it off.  I’d still love to make one someday, though!

6. READ MORE OF THE BOOKS I ALREADY OWN | ✔

This one’s kind of iffy, because about half of my summer reading was from books I already owned, and the other half were new releases or library books.  That being said, I still feel like I picked up some books that had been on my TBR for quite a while now, and because of that, I’m saying I accomplished this goal!

7. POST CONSISTENTLY ON MY BLOG AND BOOKSTAGRAM THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SUMMER | ✔

I actually think I did pretty well with my blogging and Bookstagram this summer, especially compared to how I did last year.  I stayed quite consistent and actually posted pretty regularly on both platforms the entire summer. So, way to go me! 👏🏼

And that wraps up how my bookish goals went for Summer 2018!  Overall, I did pretty amazing! I’m so happy with how my summer went, and that I was able to reach nearly all my goals.  I cannot believe summer has come to a close now, but I’m looking forward to all the wonder that fall brings.  Also, for the first time, I’ll be participating in #blogtober, so you can look forward to that!

I’d love to hear how your summer reading went! Be sure to share with me at least one bookish or non-bookish thing you’re proud of from this summer.

Thanks for reading!

Summer of Salt

RELEASING JUNE 5TH, 2018

summer of salt.jpgSynopsis

Practical Magic meets Nova Ren Suma’s Imaginary Girls and Laura Ruby’s Bone Gap in this lush, atmospheric new novel by acclaimed author Katrina Leno.

A magic passed down through generations. An island where strange things happen. A summer that will become legend.

Georgina Fernweh waits impatiently for the tingle of magic in her fingers—magic that has touched every woman in her family. But with her eighteenth birthday looming, Georgina fears her gift will never come.

Over the course of her last summer on the island—a summer of storms, falling in love, and the mystery behind one rare three-hundred-year-old bird—Georgina will learn the truth about magic, in all its many forms.

In Summer of Salt, Katrina Leno weaves another gorgeously original novel of magical realism and coming-of-age. Fans of April Genevieve Tucholke and Anna-Marie McLemore will be swept away.

This novel sounds so unique!  I love the promise of magical realism and the summer vibes that Summer of Salt gives off.  Plus, look at that gorgeous cover!  This book looks like it is going to be such a memorable and mysterious, summer read!

Save the Date

Releasing June 5th, 2018

save the dateSynopsis

Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.

The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.

There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.

There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.

Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.

Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future.

I absolutely adore Morgan Matson’s books!! I’ve read almost all of them, and have loved them all.  I am SO excited for Save the Date!  This book looks like it’s going to be filled with unique and relatable characters and so much fun and chaos.  Morgan Matson’s books always make the perfect summer read, and I am sure this one is no different.  I cannot wait!
